The Reception class have been reading the story of Cinderella this week. We had fun this afternoon making items from the story. The children decided to make shields and crowns. Some children designed a new dress for Cinderella and others acted out the story in our castle.
Year 3 have been learning about the structure of the Earth and all it's different layers. We learnt each layers name and which is the thickest and hottest. We made a model of Earth using playdough!
Year 5 are learning about the human skeleton. We worked in groups to create our own 'X-ray images' to show our knowledge of bones in the body!
This week during our music lesson, Year 5 were learning to read treble clef music on a stave. Mrs Hughes organised a game for the children using coloured tapes on the floor representing the lines on a stave. Children had to move to the correct line or space which corresponded to the given note. This was a fun activity which helped the children to remember whether the notes were sitting on a line or in a space. We also came up with little phrases to help us remember the notes’ names.
In DT Year 3 have been learning how to prepare and cook savoury dishes. We peeled and chopped the potatoes and then boiled, mashes, fried, roasted, steamed and baked them! We then tasted each type and chose our favourite.
Year 6 have had a wonderful time making their classroom look festive. They used paper that was no longer being used so it could be recycled.
In year 4 we welcomed our friend, Rashmika, from the Hindu community, into school. She taught us even more about Hinduism and helped us learn what being a Hindu meant. We looked at some different artefacts and even tried our hand at hindu music and dancing.
In Outdoor Learning Year 5 helped to create a collaborative landscape picture using the technique of wet felting. Children enjoyed carefully stretching and pulling coloured wool to add to the picture before using warm soapy water to set the felt in place.
Thank you for everyone who has supported the whole school pantomime trip and the fabulous PTA for paying for the transport as well as heavily subsidising the tickets. We all had a great time and the children were a pleasure to take. Lots of happy memories to share.
