Nursery Halloween Activities
Children in nursery had a lovely time learning about Halloween. They enjoyed making masks to turn themselves into pumpkins!
When children are healthy, happy and safe, curiosity is ignited and learning is optimised. In this section, you will find out what children in school and nursery have been learning this week.

At John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery, blue was the colour of the day today, in aid of Shropshire's Youth Awareness Day on Thursday 16th October.
We've loved being part of this and will share our fundraising total as soon as possible.
Our students and staff went all out, wearing every shade of blue while raising funds for brilliant local projects supporting young people.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make it a fun and positive day!
Pupils took part in drama to help them with the descriptive writing about a famous pilot stunt.
We have just started a mould experiment in Science to investigate what conditions cause microrganisms to grow and why. We are hoping to see lots of mould after half term!
We also explored minibeasts in forest school for our Science unit and how to classify them accurately based on their features.
In R.E, we created stain glass windows to show the Genesis story and also link with our landscape Art unit.
Once again, in Science we explored leaves to classify different types of trees around school. There we LOTS! This also linked to our Geography unit 'our changing world'.
Our fabulous Parent, Baby and Toddler Group had a wonderful time at their Halloween Party this week. It was lovely to see so many faces. We look forward to seeing everyone when we return from our Half Term Break. Our first session back will be Wednesday 5th November.
Emerald class went to forest school and created some Art using Autumn objects. They designed some brilliant art.
We would like to thank our wonderful volunteers for helping to bring our ‘Highway Rat’ scarecrow to life, leading to Third Place in the 2025 Scarecrow Festival Youth category!
A huge thank you, also, to Claire and Richard at Valley View Equestrian Centre for donating a bale of straw again this year.
Peridot Class had a fabulous afternoon down in Forest School! We have been learning about animal diets in science and investigating whether all animals like to eat the same thing. We made bird feeders using multigrain hoops and string to hang on the branches. We can't wait to see them all eaten up and enjoyed!
Our Year 6 pupils have had a wonderful and busy week at Arthog Outdoor Education and Activity Centre. Lots of wet activities have been enjoyed, which have resulted in a very full drying room, and tired legs from long walks with stunning scenery. A huge thank you to our staff who have accompanied these pupils and created long-lasting memories.
The Year 6 pupils hosted their MacMillan coffee morning, and did a wonderful job of serving their guests. Thank you to all of our families who have donated cakes, and attended to make this important event such a success for our Year 6 pupils.
Our Parent, Baby and Toddler Group have enjoyed their first few weeks of term. It has been lovely to see so many familiar and new faces, and watching the children start to build friendships. We have lots of exciting sessions planned for the coming weeks, and look forward to seeing lots of families joining us. If you would like to join the group, we meet in the nursery room on a Wednesday morning, 9:05-10:30am.
Sapphire Class have been very busy this week.
In art, we focused on harmonious colours that sit together on the colour wheel. We then linked this to our Harvest Festival performance and created lettering in Autumnal colours.
In history, we continued our learning on Invaders and Raiders. Why not ask the children what they know about the groups that invaded Britain after the Romans left?
Sapphire class had such a wonderful first week. It has been a pleasure to teach them and see new friendships blossom, as well as continuing established friendships. I am so impressed with how the children have handled the changes this week.
We have had some fun being inspired by Paul Klee and creating tertiary colours in art, and learning the story of Jesus' baptism in RE (and even making sliding stories to help us remember!)
Well done Sapphire class, keep up the good work!
