  • Key Stage 1 P.E

    This week Reception participated in a gymnastics lesson where they explored ways of travelling around, through and across apparatus. This requires balancing skills as they had to hold a balance shape for 5 seconds. It was based on Goldilocks and the 3 Bears story. 

     

    Year 1 developed their ability to jump, hop and leap over a distance with successful technique. They also developed the ability to throw with accuracy over distance by participating in a throwing themed session which included different stations. 

     

    Year 2 also developed the ability to throw with accuracy over distance by participating in a throwing themed session which included different stations. These stations included throwing beanbags at targets such as hoops and cones as well as rolling balls through gates and throwing coits.

  • Orienteering Stars!

    This week some children from Year 3 and 4 took part in an orienteering festival at William Brookes School. They all worked so hard to show good cooperation and determination to succeed. The young leaders at the festival wanted to especially award Zac and Jools for displaying friendship and kindness throughout the afternoon. Well done!

  • Tennis Coaching

    This week Year 5 were able to have a tennis coaching session with Ian from Broseley Tennis Club. They all really enjoyed the session and learnt lots of new tennis skills.

  • P.E this week

    In P.E this week Year 6 continued to work on their batting skills in rounders.

    Year 3 learnt our to play a drive shot in tri-golf.

  • Cross Country

    On Wednesday some of the children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, took part in a cross country event hosted by Barrow school. Despite the weather being very wet, the children had a wonderful time and kept smiling throughout. Everyone ran well and showed excellent team spirit.

  • Key Stage 2 P.E

    This week in P.E children in Year 6 have started learning rounders bowling skills and some rules of the game.

    Year 3 and 4 have been working on some basic orienteering skills. This included working as a team to find specific points located on a map. It required leadership skills, listening skills, communication and teamwork skills. They also tried out tri-golf! Learning putting skills.

  • Energise Festival

    This week Year 3 had a fantastic time the Energise festival at William Brookes. They enjoyed moving around a variety of stations related to lots of different sports skills. The young leaders spotted many children showing the school games values of Determination, Self-Belief, Teamwork, Respect, Honesty and Passion. Well done everyone!

  • Swimming Stars!

    Throughout this half term Year 5 have been taking part in swimming and badminton lessons at William Brookes. As this week was our final week, Mrs Smith gave out some of her very rare gold stars! She chose children who had shown determination, resilience and worked really hard to make fantastic progress. Well done.

    This week some of our Year 2 children enjoyed a multi skills festival. The children were fantastic and were awarded with a certificate for the amazing team skills shown during the competition. Well done everyone!

  • This week in our P.E lessons

    In P.E this week Year 1 practised kicking / passing in football. This required coordination and balance. This skill was practised in an isolated activity and then a conditioned game activity. 

    Year 3 and 4 practised their backhand strokes in the tennis themed PE lesson. They practised in a simplified activity and then finished the lesson with a rally to see how many times they could keep passing the ball to each other. This PE lesson required the use of coordination to know when to swing the racket to hit the ball successfully.
